Case Study |
|
|
Problem:
Significantly reduce cycle-time and cost
associated with executing operations and improve the quality of the results on a
$24B asset recapitalization program over 20 years with several hundred ships and
aircraft replacement along with its IT and processes including logistics,
financial and HR.
Result:
Approach included four teams of about 12
professionals each covering Supply Chain Management, Maintenance, Training and
Configuration Management. A Business Case Analysis determined improvement areas
and quantifiable value for improvements. Prioritization was based on
availability of funds and time for execution. The execution plan laid out a
change management strategy aligning communication and training plans. The
results of the improvements are measured over time through a framework that was
enabled during the execution phase. Using industry best practices and
methodologies (like BSC, Lean Six Sigma, BPR and SOCR), the recommendations
identified several areas of improvement and included specific process and
organizational changes. A detailed analysis of only one change for each of the
four processes amounted to about $100M in savings over five years.
